Garage sales: ban them or bust them? Where is the unclaimed taxation on these aggrandizing fetes of kiting and tax evasion going to come from? Should we all cough up some cash for the coffers to make up for these Schwartz Gelders? Perhaps one of you Liberalés types could curtsey up a fee on Coffee sold there. This would brim up the ledger.
There is nothing like the solid thud of import car doors slamming in syncopated beat at 8 Am on a Saturday morning. Some hunters park, muse, depart in less than a minute. They KNOW what they want. They swoop in then slither out. Fast, efficient, effective, shopping on the fly; change jingling in their pockets. Kids in tow and tote.
We “FREE” it. No need to chat up the nosey neighbours; show interest in chattels you are unloading at ridiculously low prices, or hang around all morning waiting for the next big spender. Nope not for us! It’s there at the side of the road. You want it, then take it. We see the stuff disappear to the real recycling depots. The rest of the nighborhood.
There are the businesses which drive around for materiel, there are the ones looking for cottage furnishings, kids for toys, people upgrading, and no haggling. Often we leave for a while, the whole lot goes while we are apparently not looking. A hoot! Of course we are not looking. This works for furniture, toys, house wares, vehicles, plants, and I think we could be persuaded to let a few pets go this way too. Simply tether it out by the curb for a day or two. Surely PITA, not the pocket will come and take it.
Our indemnity lies in our lack of communication. If I can’t make a claim like,” I only used it once”, or “It was given to me and I never used it.”, then it won’t be on my conscience when that doo dad busts up for the first time. Nope I have no desire to engage in verbal repartee decussations over my morning Joe.
Just take it if you want it. Leave my coffee quiet.
